Professor Liwen Zhang Attends the "Sustainable Development – Experiences and Practices in Asian Higher Education" Conference in Shanghai
From December 3 to December 5, 2024, Professor Liwen Zhang, Academic Dean of the Institute of International Cooperation and Sustainable Development and Professor at the School of Economics and Trade of our university, attended the "Sustainable Development – Experiences and Practices in Asian Higher Education" conference in Shanghai. The event was hosted by Shanghai University and organized by the Shanghai Economic Management Center. The conference aimed to exchange experiences and practices in promoting sustainable development in higher education in Asia, particularly in the context of French language education and cross-border cooperation projects in sustainable development disciplines.
The conference was co-organized by Shanghai University and the Shanghai Economic Management Center, with a major partner being the University of Lyon 3 in France. As a core participant in the project, Lyon 3 University has a strong academic foundation, especially in the humanities and social sciences. One of the key themes of the conference was to celebrate the achievements of the in-service Sociology (Sustainable Development specialization) program jointly offered by the Department of Philosophy at Shanghai University and the University of Lyon 3.
During the conference, leaders and scholars from French language departments and related disciplines at universities such as the Beijing Foreign Studies University, Kyoto University, Vietnam National University, and Ho Chi Minh City University shared their educational experiences and engaged in in-depth discussions on how to promote French language and sustainable development courses in Asia.
On behalf of the School of Economics and Trade and the Institute of International Cooperation and Sustainable Development, Professor Liwen Zhang shared the views of higher education and sustainable development and the role of international cooperation for promoting the UN 2030 Agenda.
This conference not only deepened the communication between our university and the international higher education community but also laid the foundation for future international cooperation projects. Through cooperation with the University of Lyon 3, our university will take a more solid step towards promoting the internationalization and diversification of education in the field of sustainable development.
